This story has floored me; children's lives taken by one soldier who obviously snapped under pressure after serving three tours. And still we say, "War..., the great equalizer","War..., the necessary evil". Really? When innocent lives are lost, gone in the blink of an eye, is that really all we can come up with? Sometimes there are simply no words. It's all just heart wrenching, the soldier, much like his victims, are as it were, "casualties of war", such a callous term. There are no winners here, no spoils to revel in when all is said and done.

There are simply just, no words..., so the best we can do is pray instead and thereby avoid adding insult to injury. And as we sit and reflect alongside our loved ones on this Sunday, let us express our love and gratitude in every way possible for having them close and for being able to hold them in our arms. More importantly, let us not lose sight of the fact that an "I love you" never comes too soon, so don't wait until it is too late.

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence
and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are
'Fragile' ~Sting~

"I do not think the measure of a civilization
is how tall its buildings of concrete are,
But rather how well its people have learned to relate to their environment and fellow man."
